Trip up to the Saentis
We took the opportunity to take a trip up Mount Säntis (2501 m.) in
September, as the weather was very good with extremely clear visibility.
Here are a few of the photos of the fantastic view we had from the top.
View from the base station of the cable car at Schwagalp
Telephoto view of the top station with the television transmitting tower.
Looking back on Schwagalp
Almost half way up! Halfway is naturally when the cabins pass.
A fantasic view, even from the cable car.
Looking down over Seealp See, with the Austrian mountains in the background.
Swiss tourist
Some other tourists coming up the hard way.
Looking across the Churfirsten towards central Switzerland
Closer view of the distant mointains.
The transmitting tower.
Looking due West with the Lake of Zürich in the background. The land bridge crosses the lake at Rapperswil.
These birds, a "Bergdohle" in German, are fantastic fliers and they seem to just play in the wind currents.
Switzerland does have lots of mountains.
Looking down on Seealpsee
Looking almost due North towards the Lake of Constance. Romanshorn is just left of centre in this photo.
Looking approximately South towards the Upper Rhine Valley towards the mountains of Graubunden.
A closer view of the snow capped mountains. Remember this is late Summer!
