Trip up the Stanserhorn, in poor weather!

Back to Central Switzerland

We organised a trip up the Stanserhorn, (1898 m.) but we were not as lucky with the weather as we had been with the Säntis trip.

We just had to imagine what it would be like in better weather. We did however get a few glimpses as the sun broke through the cloud.

Here at the top station is apart of the winch from the original funicular railway. It has now been replaced by a modern cable car.

Note the teeth on the large gearwheels. They are made of hardwood and are seperately replaceable.

After lunch the view to the North cleared to reveal the Lake of Lucerne

Lucerne is in the background to the left and Zug is on the smaller lake to the upper right.
