Trip up the Stanserhorn, in poor weather!
We organised a trip up the Stanserhorn, (1898 m.) but we were not as lucky with the weather as we had been with the Säntis trip.
We just had to imagine what it would be like in better weather. We did however get a few glimpses as the sun broke through the cloud.
The lower part of the transport is tho very old funicular railway, but is is in good condition.
Here at the top station is apart of the winch from the original funicular railway. It has now been replaced by a modern cable car.
Note the teeth on the large gearwheels. They are made of hardwood and are seperately replaceable.
Elisabeth looking into the cloud!
After lunch the view to the North cleared to reveal the Lake of Lucerne
Lucerne is in the background to the left and Zug is on the smaller lake to the upper right.
The cable car with the rails and tunnel from the original railway to the lower right.
This modernistic cablecar is planned for May 2012.
A glimpse through the clouds to the South
Heading down again.
