Day 22 Tour around Upper Loch Erne via Crom Estate and back to Riverside Farm Camping near Enniskillen. The Navi again led us astray onto a tiny Irish Road. It would have been better to take the longer route on the larger road after Crom Estate. We departed Lakeside Caravan Park and drove to the Kilyhevlin Hotel to register and organise parking. We finished up parked where the container is in this photo and it worked out perfectly. The main entrance to the Killyhevlin Hotel where the 2017 Cassidy Clan Rally was to be held.
We took a walking tour of the hotel grounds to orient ourselves. There was a series of cute statues in various places in the grounds.
The hotel is beautifully located right on the river,
with its own wharf.
The hotel grounds are extensive. I think this was the spa area.
They have a newly completed series of fully self contained units on the river shore. They were very attractive.
River view living. Comfortable and self contained.
Each with its own balcony and its own wharf.
Very inviting, but we had our own rolling home with us.
We headed off on a planned trip to Crom Estate on Upper Loch Erne,
We thought we could camp here that night, but it was only for tents!
This was quite an old tree. The rings were labeled with famous events back to early 1700.
These were stuffed birds in the display.
Some of the old cellars here have been converted for weekend accommodation.
There is a wharf for visiting boats.
We then started on a round walk of the estate.
This is the ruins of the old Crom Castle which was destroyed by fire in 1764.
This was a huge and very old Yew Tree.
A young swan family.
Our first glimpse of the new Crom Castle
The boat house. The ramp in front of the boat house.
A clear message. New Crom from the other side.
The bridge leads to the island where there is a church and the walled garden.
Vintage fuel pump!
Crom Castle is now listed as a wedding venue. We walked back on the path on the other side of a small lake.
This was tempting, but ist was chained! Baaa!
Campground at Crom Estate, but only for tents! Grrr! The Church in Enniskillen
