Druminure Rd, Tandragee.
Driving down Druminure Rd near Tandragee, looking for the Waddell acestral house. The house is at the end of this stretch of Druminure Lane. The house as it is today. Thomas Waddell was a carpenter and wheelwright, so this may have been his workshop.
The house viewed from behind.
The hole in the ground on the corner used to be the Waddell's well. A closer view of the well.
This is the start of the lane where it turns off Druminure Road. Back on Druminure Rd, which is not much bigger.
This is the friendly lady who helped us find the house. It would have been difficult without her assistance. Her house. The old Clare School house where Thomas' children would have gone to school.
From here we continued on to a campground at North Beach, Norh of Belfast. View of North Beach from our camp place.
The entrance to Glendalough
A popular destination.
The idea was to be buried as close to the monks as possible to have a better chance of getting to heaven.

A pleasant surprise. Back at the monastic city.
With fewer tourists.
Displays in the visitor's centre.
An almost empty park place. It was packed when we arrived.
After extensively exploring the entire site, we spent the rest of our time in the visitor's centre.
The following series are taken from a projected slide show, so the quality and composition is poor, but I did not have time to compose the photos.
The series covers sites from all over Ireland and I did not have time to note the details.

IOAC Camping near Rosslare.
This was a long day! I would have liked more time to explore sites around Bristol and north of Dover where some of my ancestors originated. That will have to wait for another time. Waiting for the ferry at Rosslare
Departure For the trip across southern England, there was no time for taking photos as we had to meet the ferry at Dover the next day. |
