The Titanic stood off shore her on her fateful voyage. Some lucky people disembarked and the last passengers were taken on board by tender. Officers quarters.
On the opposite side of the inlet is the site of the original fort. The Queenstown story covers the story of the Titanic.

Day 6 Pick up hire car from Kerry Airport then visit Killarney and Muckross House We hired a car for a few days and left the motorhome set up at Beech Grove Camping Park It worked out very well and it was much easier on the small roads with the smaller vehicle.
Muckross House One can walk through the parks or hire a buggy.
The park is extensive and beautiful. Some of the trees are aged!
We booked the guided tour of the building and were surprised to have an Australian as a guide. He had returned to Ireland from Australia and did a really good job as a guide. Spinning demonstartion. A bell system to call for the servants, one for every bedroom!
